Orchestra Project and Opera Boston.
Flutist Sarah Brady, called “enchanting” (Boston Globe) and “clairvoyantly sensitive” (New Music Connoisseur), is principal flute with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and regularly appears with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Pops, Boston Ballet, Firebird Ensemble, Boston Musica Viva and the Radius Ensemble. She has premiered and recorded new music from many of today’s leading composers, including new music commissioned by Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Project.
In 2007 Sarah enjoyed a sold out debut at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall with pianist Oxana Yablonskaya. A prizewinner in the Pappoutsakis Flute Competition and the National Flute Association’s Young Artist Competition, Sarah now serves on the National Flute Association’s New Music Advisory Committee. Sarah has recorded over 30 albums on the BMOP/Sound label. Her solo and chamber recordings can be heard on the Albany, Naxos, Oxingale, and Cantaloupe labels. January 2013 was celebrated by the CD release of her first flute concerto, Flauta Carioca composed by Thomas Oboe Lee.
Sarah is on faculty at the Boston Conservatory and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. In her spare time she enjoys trying new recipes, sailing with her husband, and watching Masterpiece Theater. Her long-term goals include beating aforementioned husband in a tennis match, going to the Australian Open or Wimbledon, and hiking the Zion Narrows- for a second time!
