Julia is most well-known for her scholarship on the twentieth-century German philosopher Martin Heidegger. She is the co-translator of Heidegger’s three lecture courses on the German Romantic poet Friedrich Hölderlin, and is currently completing a book on the relationship between Heidegger’s politics and his interpretation of poetry during the 1930s and 40s for which she most recently won a prestigious NEH Summer Stipend. A Fulbright and Alexander-von-Humboldt-Bundeskanzler Fellow, Julia regularly returns to Germany to do archival research and present her work. This is her last year on the Board as she prepares to return to Germany next summer to continue work on her second book.
